Bio
Ba Balance is a duo built around electric guitar and West African percussion, bringing together Danish guitarist Preben Carlsen and Gambian percussionist Sal Dibba.
Electric guitar played with loops and effects opens up a wide sonic space, while West African percussion grounds and drives the music. Together they move through desert blues, roots-based forms and groove-oriented passages, with space for long, evolving live structures.
Shaped by years of playing together, Ba Balance presents a personal approach to contemporary afro-blues and afro-rock, rooted in live interaction and the exchange between guitar and percussion.
Preben Carlsen
Danish guitarist and composer whose work moves between roots-based traditions, experimental music, and long-term engagement with West African music.
Alongside Ba Balance, Carlsen has shared the stage with a wide palette of musicians, ranging from Malian kora virtuoso Toumani Diabaté to American funk and soul saxophonist Pee Wee Ellis.
Salieu Dibba
Salieu Dibba is a Gambian-born percussionist working with West African rhythms in contemporary live settings.
He has collaborated with artists such as Tony Allen, Toumani Diabaté and Titiyo.
In Ba Balance, his percussion anchors and drives the music in close dialogue with the guitar.
